**Short answer:** A legitimate employer has a reachable identity — a website with a legal notice, named contacts, a proper interview. They describe the work concretely, state the pay model openly and ask you questions. Anyone charging for onboarding or a starter package is not one.

Chatter jobs are one of the few home-office entry points that require neither a degree nor starting capital — which is why so many offers circulate, and why their quality varies so widely. Here is the checklist that separates the good ones from the rest.

## What legitimate offers look like

A legitimate employer has a reachable identity: a website with a legal notice, real contacts, a proper interview. They describe the task concretely (which platforms, which shifts, which language), name the [pay model](https://impulse.management/en/blog/how-much-do-onlyfans-chatters-earn/) openly and ask you questions — because they are looking for people who can write, not for random clicks.

Onboarding is another tell: anyone who lets you loose on customers unsupervised on day one is not treating the customer side carefully either.

## Legitimate vs. not, row by row

| | Legitimate | Not legitimate |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The employer's identity | a website with a legal notice, real contacts | just a Telegram handle, no company |
| Description of the work | specific: platforms, shifts, language | "just chatting" |
| Pay | the model stated openly | "up to €5,000 a month" with no explanation |
| Money from the applicant | none | payment up front for training, software, "verification" |
| Interview | they ask you questions | an offer within five minutes |
| Onboarding | supervised, with a named contact | first day unsupervised with customers |
| Whose name you write in | stated clearly | left unclear |

The last row is where it stops being only about your money: anyone who will not say whose name you write in is not following the platform rules either.

## The typical scams

**Payment up front.** You are asked to pay for training, software or "verification" before you earn. Legitimate employers pay you, not the other way round.

**Dream figures without a model.** "Up to €5,000 a month" with no explanation of how that number is built is bait, not information.

**Anonymous principals.** Just a Telegram handle, no company, no contract — then there is also nobody to turn to if things go wrong.

**Identity games.** If it stays unclear in whose name you are writing and whether platform rules are respected, walk away.

## What to clarify legally

Depending on the setup you work employed or self-employed. Both are fine — but it has to be said out loud, because taxes and social insurance hang on it. Also clarify how your numbers are reported and how often you are paid.

## Day-to-day remote work

Remote means free in where you work, not free of structure: chats run in shifts, evenings and weekends included, because that is when fans are online. Good teams distribute this fairly and predictably. What the day-to-day actually looks like is covered in [Working as a chatter](https://impulse.management/en/blog/working-as-a-chatter-for-an-onlyfans-agency/).

## Apply directly

We regularly look for German-speaking chatters — remote, with proper onboarding built on our own training programme [Chatter Certified](https://chattercertified.com) and transparent reporting. The [application form](https://impulse.management/en/#chatter) takes two minutes; we usually reply within 24 hours.
