Your first month with an agency: what happens when?

Short answer
Week one is shooting, week two is building the accounts, from week three social media and the chat start running. First subscribers usually arrive in week three or four; meaningful numbers come later. Anyone expecting a large sum in month one will be disappointed – and that disappointment is the most common reason people quit after six weeks.
What happens in the first weeks appears on almost no agency website. That's a shame, because it's the information you'd use to decide whether this fits your life.
Week by week
| Week | What happens | What comes from you |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | shooting the starter set | two focused shooting days |
| 2 | accounts created and filled, bio, prices | sign-off, a few questions |
| 3 | social media starts, first subscribers | daily content to keep it fed |
| 4 | chat running, first sets on sale | custom requests, voice notes |
Week 1: shooting
The part almost nobody expects, and the longest. Before an account goes live, material has to exist – how much exactly is next door. Two focused days will cover it; spread out alongside everything else it takes three weeks.
This is the week that decides how fast things start. Everything after depends on it.
Thinking about working with an agency? Applying takes two minutes – free of obligation and confidential.
Go to the applicationWeek 2: accounts
Now the profiles appear: name, bio, profile and header image, prices, first posts. You read it back and say what doesn't fit – the name above all, because that one stays.
Little comes from you this week. It feels empty. That's normal.
Week 3: reach
Instagram and TikTok start running. This is where it becomes visible why regularity matters more than perfection: an account delivering daily gets carried; one with a gap in week two doesn't.
First subscribers usually arrive now. There are few of them. That is not a bad sign.
Week 4: the chat
The sets go on sale and the chat team writes in your name. What comes from you is what only can: custom requests within your boundaries, and voice notes.
What realistically comes out
Honestly: in month one, usually a two-figure to low three-figure amount. Anything promised beyond that is advertising, not experience. The numbers you see online come from accounts that are two years old.
What genuinely gets built in month one is something else: a filled account, a rhythm, and the first data on what your fans respond to. That's the basis for month three – how long until it carries is covered elsewhere.
What goes wrong in the first four weeks
- The starter set never gets finished. By far the most common. No material, no account.
- Nothing follows after week three. The start is curiosity; week four is work.
- The expectation was a different one. See above.
- Boundaries only become clear now. Which is why they belong in the conversation beforehand, not in week four.
What you can expect from an agency in this time
A plan for what gets shot when. One person who answers. Numbers you can look at yourself instead of having to ask for. And an honest word when something isn't working – better in week three than in month three.
What to check before committing is in how to recognise a legitimate agency.
